  • Aerial Passings: Downtown, Centennial Park, Historic, Triangle, and Rosa Parks, Holland High Fiberhoods

In Progress

  • Drop Construction: Historic, Centennial, Triangle, Rosa Park, Downtown, and Holland High Fiberhoods
  • Service activation: Historic, Centennial, Triangle, Rosa Park, Downtown, and Holland High Fiberhoods

What is the Passings Network?

The passings network consists of the fiber lines that go past every home, making fiber connectivity available to everyone in the City of Holland. Some of the fiber will be underground and some will be overhead.

Just as a water main goes past every home to provide access to water, a fiber optic passings go past every home to provide access to data. As the passings network is built, neighborhood by neighborhood – fiberhood by fiberhood – service will roll out as it becomes available.

What is the Drop?

In order for a home to receive internet service, it has to connect to the passings network. That connection is called the drop.

Buidling the drop is the first step in the installation process. Drop installation will happen after you sign up for service by completing the Fiber Build Authorization Form.

Drops usually follow the electric utility lines. So, if your electric connection is overhead, then your fiber drop probably too. Also, if your electric connectionn is underground, then your fiber drop will probably also be underground.
