Project Plan for Drinking Water System Improvements 2023

Notice of Project Planning Public Meeting

As part of its May meeting, Holland Board of Public Works (HBPW), will present information on the proposed Water Treatment Plant Chemical Storage Building addition and Drinking Water Lead Service Line Replacement project for the purpose of receiving comments from interested parties.

The meeting will be held at 4:00 pm on May 8, 2023 at the following location: 625 Hastings Ave, Holland, MI 49423

The purpose of the proposed project is to replace aging chemical storage structures and increase safety of chemical storage by removing storage from the top floor of the administrative areas of the Water Treatment Plant, as well as replace drinking water lead service lines to meet the EGLE requirements for replacement of existing public and private side lead service lines.

Project construction will involve the construction of an expansion of the Water Treatment Plant filtration building to include chemical storage, as well as work to replace the private side portion of drinking water lead service lines where the utility portion of the line has already been replaced.

Impacts of the proposed project include normal activities related to construction at the Water Treatment Plant (increased traffic, excavation activities, limited noise) and boring activities (noise, partial street closures, plumbing activities at private residences) for lead service line replacements.

The estimated costs to users for the proposed project will be $10,000,000.

Copies of the plan detailing the proposed project are available for inspection at the following locations:

Written comments received before the meeting record is closed on May 8, 2023 will receive responses in the final project plan. Written comments can be emailed to publiccomment@hollandbpw.com or mailed or hand delivered to the HBPW Service Center at the address noted above.
