Holland Water Distribution System

The Water/Wastewater Services Department maintains the water distribution system.  The 230 miles of water main are located mostly within the City of Holland with some sections of Park, Laketown, and Holland townships included.  The majority of the water main is 6 inch, 8 inch, and 12 inch in diameter with some as large as 36 inches in diameter.  There are roughly 13,000 service connections off the water distribution system and over 2,200 fire hydrants to maintain.  There are 4 water storage tanks and 5 pump stations pumping to 5 pressure zones within the system.

For Site Plan Reviews and Approvals, please refer to our Guide.  For developments within the City of Holland, Site Plan Reviews should be submitted to the City’s Planning Department.  For developments outside the City of Holland, consult with the local township office.  Please also refer to our Requirements for Fire Protection Services.

Please see our guide to Water Conservation for some great tips on saving money and for healthier lawns.

Many homes in our service area were built with Polybutylene water services.  Although this pipe material is still approved by the Michigan Plumbing Code, we would recommend replacing these services due to the numerous problems we have seen with this pipe material.  For more information on Polybutylene water service material, please refer to this informative web page.
