The Water Filtration Plant, located on Lake Michigan, began operating in 1955.  It filters 38.5 million gallons per day (MGD), and is staffed by five full time, State Licensed Operators.  Operations are 24/7.  Tours may be scheduled by calling 616.355.1589.
