Fallen Lines

Fallen power lines are deadly! Call the Holland BPW immediately. Meanwhile stay completely clear of lines in your yard or in the street.

• Don't touch any metal object near it or try to move any object in contact with a fallen power line.
• Don't trim trees or remove debris nearby.
• Don't step in any nearby water puddles, which can be as dangerous as the live wires themselves.

If you are in a vehicle that gets entangled in a power line, stay where you are. Don't try to get out unless fire or severe injury demand it. In those cases, jump so that you'll be totally clear of the vehicle and clear of the wires when you touch the ground. If you can't summon help or no help is available, try driving away so that the wire may slide off. To report a fallen line, call 355-1500.
