Work Zone Safety

Every year there is an average of 5,000 crashes in Michigan in roadway work zones. In 2008, there were 1278 injuries and 13 fatalities that resulted from these crashes.  To help prevent these accidents, Holland Board of Public Works' crews follow standards and guidelines in setting up proper work zones with signs, barrels, and flagman.  To help with this effort, we need drivers to be alert to our work zones and to follow the signs and barrels.  To learn more about how work zones are established and how to approach them, feel free to watch the movie or view the brochure attached below.
