Service Outage

Power Outage

Lightning striking power lines can cause fuses to blow or breakers to trip. Before calling to report a power outage, please do the following:

  • Make sure you haven't blown a fuse or tripped a circuit breaker.
  • Call a neighbor to see if the power is out there also.
  • Wait 5 minutes to see if our equipment will automatically restore the service.

If an outage blackout occurs, please follow these steps:

  • Turn off or disconnect all motor-driven appliances and fixtures to avoid damage from electrical overload when the power is restored.
  • Try to leave an outside light switched "on" as a visual sign to repair crews that power has been restored to your block.

To report a power outage, please call 616.355.1500.  However, please don't call to report the same trouble more than once. Be assured, we will respond as soon as possible.

If you are in danger due to a downed powerline, then please call 911.
