The Holland Board of Public Works is pleased to announce a new web site aimed specifically at providing the greater Holland community with news and information about energy-related issues and questions.
 
hollandfutureenergy.com features conservation help for residents and businesses, background information on energy generating and usage issues, and updates on developments in the Holland BPW’s efforts to ensure a clean, reliable and affordable energy future for the Holland area.

Our Mission

The Holland Board of Public Works is a community-owned enterprise providing utility services to the Holland area. We are committed to improving the economic and environmental quality of the community in partnership with our customers, providing reliable services at the lowest rates achievable through innovation, efficiency, and professional operations.

Our Services

We provide electric generation and distribution, water and wastewater treatment to the City of Holland and selected areas.

Electric Generation-The HBPW owns over 3 generating stations, all within the Holland area.

Electric Distribution-There is over 595 miles of electric overhead and underground lines reaching residential and commercial customers.

Water Filtration-The HBPW water plant draws in an average of 13.2 million gallons of fresh water per day from Lake Michigan.

Wastewater Treatment-There are 164 miles of HBPW sanitary sewer main located mostly within the City of Holland with some sections of Park, Laketown, Holland, and Fillmore townships included.

Broadband Services -The HBPW owns a fiber optic communications network, and provides point-to-point, multi-point, or ISP connections, ranging from 0.5 Megabits per second to 1000 Mbps.

 

Our Rates

Our rates are among the lowest in the state of Michigan and the reliability of our system is far better than national averages. Most utility rates will be changing effective May 1, 2008. View rate information.
