UTILITY OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
This position is part of the executive management group of the BPW and reports directly to the General Manager, responsible for the overall management of the electric production, water treatment and wastewater treatment operations, including production, maintenance, planning and budgeting; provides direction and leadership to utility plant superintendents; and serves as employer’s designated representative to environmental regulatory agencies. Qualifications include BS Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university, or equivalent educational program; Professional engineering license is preferred; ten years of management level experience in industrial operations, maintenance, and planning; utility experience and experience with regulatory agencies preferred; WorkKeys NCRC, Gold Level preferred (Reading – 5; Math – 5; Locating – 5), and valid Michigan Drivers License.
ELECTRIC PRODUCTION SUPERINTENDENT/PLANT MANAGER
Responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the power generation facilities including overseeing and managing all personnel groups (Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering Departments); plans and secures fuel and wholesale power sources; ensures conformance with state and federal regulations; reviews, evaluates, and prepares financial and operating reports on plant operations. Qualifications include BS Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college or university, minimum 7 years of management experience in the operations, maintenance and planning of an electric utility with thorough working knowledge of the construction, operating principles and hazards of power generation machinery; interpersonal skills necessary to manage the activities of a diverse group of employees, and work productively with all levels of organizational personnel; mental ability to work on projects requiring concentration and attention to detail with frequent disruptions; WorkKeys NCRC, Gold Level preferred (Reading – 5; Math – 5; Locating – 5).
PLANNING ENGINEER
This job is responsible for working in our Business Services department, engineering and designing capital projects in the water, wastewater, and power generation utilities; administering and overseeing construction projects, contracts and inspections; performs load growth forecasts and analyses for water, wastewater, and electric utilities. Qualifications include: BS degree in chemical, civil, or mechanical engineering from an ABET approved college or university; State of Michigan Professional Engineering License; minimum of four years experience with electric, water, and wastewater utility engineering and operations; working knowledge of utility processes; strong oral and written interpersonal skills; mental ability to work on projects requiring concentration and attention to detail with frequent interruptions.
INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICIAN
Responsible for the planning, installation, maintenance, and repair of process control and analytical equipment, instrumentation and controls equipment, along with trouble shooting and maintenance of electrical equipment in the operations department of our water treatment, wastewater treatment, and distribution and collections systems. Preferred background includes: Associate’s degree in electronics, or related field or minimum two years experience in electrical/electronic maintenance field with experience in troubleshooting, calibration and repair of electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic instrumentation equipment; strong working knowledge of electrical systems and concepts - electrical license desired; and working knowledge and experience in a water/wastewater facility highly desirable.
ELECTRIC UTILITY JOURNEYMAN LINE WORKER A
Responsible for the performance of skilled tasks, in accordance with standard trade practices in the construction and maintenance of electric distribution overhead and underground lines. Qualifications include: knowledge of working energized lines ranging from 110 volts to 7200 volts; ability to climb poles and work at moderate heights with wires energized at high voltages; knowledge of standard electric utility safety precautions to protect themselves and others against occupational hazards; successful completion of an electric utility apprenticeship program recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor; possession of a valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL); and must live within in 20 miles of municipal boundaries.
SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE I (TEMPORARY)
This is a temporary position with the high probability of becoming permanent; responsible for semi-skilled manual work related to the construction, operation, maintenance, and servicing of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems of the Holland BPW. Work involves tasks requiring manual skill and dexterity and use of skills in equipment operation. Qualifications require working knowledge of tools, equipment, methods, and materials used in the water distribution and wastewater collection systems; possession of a valid Michigan Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to acquire within 60 days upon entering the department; interpersonal skills necessary to provide courteous and accurate information and responses to internal and external customers; ability to perform physical labor involving lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying heavy loads (+50 pounds) and working in all types of weather conditions; a Waterworks System Operator S-4 Classification License from the State of Michigan is highly desired; experience in construction and heavy equipment operation is preferred; must live within 20 miles of municipal boundaries; meet the minimum qualifications for WorkKeys NCRC.
